We are sure every parent eagerly waits for the day when their child is old enough to start reading books.
There are a million of reasons why every alternate preschool program includes story time. Several literacy skills can be loaded in reading or storytelling classes that teachers and parents would not want their child to learn.
But, have you ever thought of reading chapter books to preschool students? If you are looking to, you can join an international teaching diploma program and learn the ways to do so.
Pre-schoolers are always eager to read not only picture books. If they are provided the correct book, they too enjoy listening to a longer, more suspense story that is available in chapter books.
There is no doubt that reading a chapter book is not the same as reading a picture book. Moreover, it takes a lot of time to develop the skill of listening to a longer book.
You must provide your child a preview of the book before you start reading it to them. It is quite useful as it gives them an idea about the main characters and the basic plot as there are not many uses of pictures to help them out like in a picture book.
If the book you are reading to your child is not helping them or being able to grab their attention, you should stop reading it. It is always wise to provide a good experience reading together than continuing going through a book no one is enjoying.
It is quite difficult to keep the students engaged when there are not a lot of pictures in the book to look at. Many children like to colour or play with Legos or do stickers while they are being read to. When you keep them busy, their attention span stays longer.
There are some long chapters in a book that is not possible to finish in a single sitting and can be overwhelming to the readers if done so. You can complete half a chapter or a quarter in one day. Of course, if they are willing to read a whole chapter in a day, go for it!
At the beginning of each class, do a quick review of what you have completed in the last class. It is very helpful for a little child to remember the plotline and also the name of the characters when the reading continues over a long period.
Always keep a record of the books you read to your children. Children love seeing it grow and remembering the books they have completed.
You must be convinced by now why reading chapter books to pre-schoolers is important. If you ever want to know the tips to introduce reading books to your child in their pre-school, go through the above-mentioned tips and you will quickly get to know. You can also enrol yourself in an international teaching diploma program to learn different methods and other important skills to teach pre-schoolers.

Asian College of Teachers (ACT) undertakes a continuous review of its teacher training courses to ensure imparting high quality education. However, there might be circumstances outside of ACT’s control which might affect its stakeholders like if you are planning to teach in a different country, applying for a teaching license, pursuing higher studies or trying to get the certificate approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE) of a particular country then you can do so with the certificate issued by Asian College of Teachers (ACT). However, each country’s Ministry of Education (MoE) or educational bodies set certain standards that are indispensable for the pursuit of higher studies or teaching in schools in that country. So it can be a possibility that you may be able to use the certificate for higher studies or teaching purposes in one country and not in another. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you investigate thoroughly and check with the relevant authorities regarding the acceptance of the certificate issued by us before you enrol on a particular course. ACT strives to offer high-quality education and its certificates can be valuable for various purposes internationally, but still it is crucial for individuals to verify the specific recognition of the certificate in the country they intend to use it, especially for formal education or professional licensing purposes. This approach ensures that the stakeholders make informed decisions regarding their educational and career paths.
